Q1. I would like to become a beauty therapist but can only attend college part-time.

A1. This is possible at the WAA as most courses run from 10.00 – 2.45pm once a week. School half-terms and holidays are usually when assignments and course work can be completed, instead of attending lessons with a tutor.

Q2. Which order should I complete courses?

A2. If Holistic courses are the preferred career path then Anatomy & Physiology is the best course to complete first. Then Swedish Body Massage followed by Indian Head Massage/Aromatherapy/Reflexology.
If Beauty is the preferred option then either Beauty Specialist Diploma or Depilation and Nails Treatments Certificates.

Q3. Can I complete both Holistic and Beauty courses at the same time?

A3. Yes, at the WAA all of these courses are run on different days. Most employers prefer both beauty and holistic qualified therapists.

Q4. How much homework should I expect to have to complete?

Q9. Will I need to provide my own clients for practice?

A9. Yes, it is advisable at the WAA that students provide a client for each session that the tutor has requested. These clients may then be rotated amongst the other students to broaden their training. It is not advisable to practice on just one type of client, e.g. Young or stressed or combination skin type.

Q10. There are many Awarding Bodies in the UK, is there really any difference between them?

A10. Yes. VTCT qualifications meet the highest quality standards and are offered throughout the country. Mostly VTCT Centres are Colleges of Further Education and the better independent schools. The Web is full of 'leading' providers of therapy qualifications. Try asking them how many of their qualifications are on the National Framework of the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority and are thereby Government Funded. It is also interesting to ask those with many schools in many countries, how many students these schools have. You will get a shock. As a charity, VTCT charges low fees and the qualifications are those meeting the needs of the workplace. We do not give single school 'mickey mouse' certificates just for profit. To get on the pathway to success you need quality qualifications proving you can give effective and safe treatments. That means VTCT
